YG: Outdoors (Level 3)

During this one year course you will develop leadership skills with the opportunity to complete

a Level 3 National Certificate in Outdoor Leadership and NCEA Level 2.

  • > Course Outline

    This exciting course will develop your leadership skills and give you the opportunity to pathway 
    to a career in ecotourism or adventure tourism.

    Students need no previous knowledge or skills in the outdoors, just a positive attitude and a desire to participate
    in the outdoors.

    The course covers:

    - Tramping and bushcraft
    - Leading groups and first aid in the outdoors
    - Safety and risk management
    - A range of outdoor opportunities
    Embedded literacy and numeracy

  • > Course Fees and Eligibility: FREE for 16-19 year olds *

    To participate in this course and qualify for free training under the Youth Guarantee initiative,
    students must:

    - be 16-19 years of age at the start of the Youth Guarantee programme;
    - be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand permanent residency;
    - be prepared to study full-time for one year in a level 1-3 programme;
    - not be enrolled in school and a Youth Guarantee programme simultaneously.
