YOUTH COURSE: Cookery (Level 2)

With this 1 year course take the first step towards working in a commercial kitchen while gaining a Level 2 New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality.

    Learn the skills of cookery in a professional kitchen with superbly trained and experienced chefs.You will cook often, experiencing news skills such as buffet service, food safety and braising.

    The course covers:

    - Cookery methods including baking, roasting, grilling, frying & steaming
    - Food portioning & presentation
    - Using and maintaining knives
    - Safe food handling & contamination hazards
    Embedded literacy & numeracy

  • > Course Fees & Eligibility: FREE for 16-19 year olds *

    To participate in this course and qualify for free training under the Youth Guarantee initiative, students must:

    - be 16-19 years of age at the start of the Youth Guarantee programme;
    - be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand permanent residency;
    - be prepared to study full-time for 1 year in a level 1-3 programme;
    - not be enrolled in school & a Youth Guarantee programme simultaneously;
